Birmingham Landscaping Steps
Steps are used in transitions in the landscape to move from one elevation to the next. They are walkways. Steps can be made from many different materials and are generally broken into wet and dry laid systems. Wet systems use mortar and concrete and can be any form of masonry (brick, stone, block, old concrete) or poured in place concrete. Dry materials can be stone, RR ties, old concrete or pavers/segmental systems. Generally, dry systems are less expensive then wet systems. The choice of material should be related not only to budget, but also to architectural and usage concerns. All steps shown in this section were designed and built by John Russell Landscape Architect, Inc.
