Lawn and Yard Ornaments in Birmingham
Garden ornamentation and landscape decor in Birmingham are the decorative focal points in a landscape. Traditionally, garden ornamentation and landscape decor refers to pots, statues, sculpture and knick-knacks that are used around the garden. These design objects provide enhancement to the natural elements of your landscape. They draw people’s attention and create more of a scenery than just a still landscape.
At John Russell Landscape Architect, we are masters at finding just the right ornamentation to really accentuate your landscape. Too much ornamentation can clutter your outdoor area and make it look tacky. However, without ornamentation, some landscapes are missing out on just that right touch that really pulls it all together. However, the trained eye of our talented designers will know exactly what lawn ornaments you need. That is why we are the top choice in the Birmingham area for landscape ornamentation.
Eloquent Yard Ornaments in Birmingham
A Birmingham landscape ornament can be placed as a focal point to draw visitors out into or through the garden, used as detail items to enhance the “sense of place”, or added as surprises to delight guests. Typically they consist of statues, big and small that are made in the style of various themes. From light-hearted cherubs to dark gargoyles, landscape statues are very versatile.
Sculptures of different shapes and colors can also add a modern, “artsy” look to your landscape. These are great ornaments if you are looking to make visual scenery as opposed to an outdoor living area. Pots are also a popular ornamentation choice. The great part about plant pots is that they are portable, so you can move them wherever you see fit. While the focal point of a plant pot is typically the plant inside, the pot itself can be ornate and add significantly to the overall design.
At John Russell Landscape Architect we strive to offer the widest selection of lawn ornaments possible. We only work with the finest manufacturers, so our vast array of choices is of superior quality. No matter what look you are going for or what your design theme is, we will find exactly the right ornamentation to top off your landscape.

I would hire John Russell without even talking to other people
Because of some significant drainage problems at my home, which had begun to compromise some of the integrity of my structure, it was suggested to me that I might need to talk to a landscape architect. Until that time I had been talking tovarious contractors and landscapers. I had had a number of things done both in and outside house, none of which solved my problem. I began to search for a landscape architect and came across John Russell. I contacted him and two other people. John was the first person to return my calls, and one person never got back to me.When John came to look at my situation, I experienced him as a straight shooter. He talked about ways to address my problems that made sense to me and seemed practical. He listened to me, really listened to me, about my preferences, lifestyle, and, aesthetic leanings. He also was very clear about the way he operated, emphasizing that he does “one job at a time,” (that impressed me)and clearly delineating when and how he would be available to me. I am a single female, and am accustomed to service people trying to deceive or mislead me. I experienced none of that with John. So, after careful consideration, I chose John Russell Landscape Architecture Company to do my work, even though there was going to be wait of several months before starting the work.John got the job started slightly ahead of the proposed schedule. He did everything just as he said he would do, was on time every morning, and his crew cleaned up every evening. Before he did anything, he explained to me carefully what was going to be done. Whenever I made an attempt to contact him I found him available and responsive 100% of the time. (From the very beginning, he diligently explained that he takes one day off every week and would not be available for contact on that day. As a mental health counselor, I appreciate and respect that, and I honored that boundary in my efforts to reach him.)The work was finished in a timely manner, fully to my expectations, and under his cost estimate. Because in the past I have made recommendations before time testing the work, I have waited about a month to write this recommendation. During that time we have had some very heavy rain. There was one slight problem, which he quickly came and fixed without debate or argument. Should I ever again need a landscape architect, I would hire John Russell without even talking to other people. I can recommend him enthusiastically and without hesitation.
I want to once again thank you for the work you did.
I wanted to take a moment and write you about the landscape work you did at my home. I want to once again thank you for the work you did. If has changed my lifestyle. I find myself keeping curtains and blinds open in order to look outside. I also find myself being outside more, and I am interacting with my neighbors more frequently. I’m eager to find some patio furniture, but still need to save up money for that.
When we decided to re-landscape our back yard, I called on several potential landscape architects to help us decide what we should consider. Having a pool and a love for tropical landscapes was a bit of a snag as Birmingham is not a tropical environment. However, we had already grown some palm trees successfully and wanted to keep them in the plans for the new yard. I had notice John and his team working at a neighbors house and was particularly interested in the work style. John and his team were consistently on the job, neat (can you imagine) and the transformation I had already seen was attractive and done quickly. All of these things appealed to us.When we met John on a rainy Sunday afternoon, we knew he was the right choice. He listened. He took the time to look at what we already had and carefully included what we loved into the new plans. Imagine having someone listen to your wishes, turn it into a work of art then make it magically appear in a workable plan. To us, finding John was a gift.In the prep stages, John included our choices and allowed us to hand pick large boulders, lighting, and other elements we wanted. His resourcefulness made good use of the many plants we already had and saved us money by taking care of them until it was their turn to be included in the new landscape. His team worked efficiently every day, professional, capable and on-time, cleaning up as they go and leaving a neat space at the end of each day. They showed a great deal of respect to us and our home.Nine days form the start, the masterpiece was completed! We got more than a landscape we loved, it's truly a work of art, or as I like to call it, and ArtScape! Every season it gets more lush and fragrant. Others see it and are in awe of the detail and the uniqueness of the design. Most commonly our visitors comment on the resort feel they get when enjoying our space, day or night! It is remarkable and we could not not be more pleased with John and his team, the process and the results. Thanks John!
