Water, like fire and stone is an essential element of a garden. Water features can be ornate architectural fountains, or naturalistic running streams. They can range from table tops fountains, to large ponds or lakes. Every garden should have water in some form. It is soothing and can be used to enforce the mood of a space. Small calm reflective ponds are good for rest. Rushing streams can drown out other sounds and create excitement. Spraying water is fun, and trickling meditative. Any budget can accommodate water but care must be taken with maintenance. All water features shown in this section were designed and installed by John Russell Landscape Architect, Inc.
